This Drug Control and Crime Prevention Internship is part of the Global Maritime Crime Programme, specifically the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea (GARS) team.
The GARS team plays a vital role in supporting East African countries—including Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Uganda—in combating maritime crime. With years of experience in the region, the programme focuses on strengthening national capacities, safeguarding sea routes, and promoting regional stability.
This internship lasts six months, is full-time, and requires the intern to work on-site at the UNODC office in Nairobi.
What the Internship Involves
Interns will work directly with professional staff and gain hands-on experience in project support, research, communication, and coordination.
Key Tasks Include:

Contributing to the drafting of speeches, background briefs, presentations, and official documents.

Supporting the organization of technical workshops, stakeholder meetings, and conferences.

Participating in internal and external meetings and preparing detailed notes.

Assisting with translation from Somali to English and vice versa.

Performing various administrative and programme-related tasks as needed.

Eligibility Requirements
