Microsoft is expanding its impact in Africa and is now looking for a dynamic Government Affairs Director to spearhead policy development, advocacy programs, and stakeholder engagement from its Nairobi office. This leadership role is ideal for an experienced professional with a passion for technology, governance, and innovation.
About the Role
In this position, you’ll help shape Microsoft’s public policy agenda, influence digital transformation initiatives, and build partnerships with key policymakers and industry stakeholders. Main Responsibilities
Strategic & Program Management

Oversee Microsoft’s engagement with governments and public institutions across Africa.

Manage policy campaigns related to technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

Develop strategies to address key policy challenges while aligning with corporate priorities.
Research & Intelligence

Monitor trends in technology regulation, cybersecurity, and digital policy.

Provide leadership teams with insights and recommendations on emerging issues.
Stakeholder Relations

Build coalitions with thought leaders, policymakers, and private sector players.

Represent Microsoft in high-level meetings, summits, and policy forums.
Internal Alignment & Communication

Work closely with business and legal teams to maintain consistent messaging.

Coordinate executive engagements and government outreach programs.
Qualifications

Advanced degree (Master’s or Bachelor’s) in Public Policy, Law, or a related discipline.

Many years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or corporate advocacy.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.

Proven ability to manage complex, cross-border stakeholder relationships.
