Kenya School of Law (KSL), the country’s premier institution for professional legal training, is recruiting an Assistant Director for the Advocates Training Programme (ATP). This full-time leadership position offers a chance to guide and enhance one of Kenya’s most respected legal education programs.
Reporting to the Director/CEO, the Assistant Director will ensure effective delivery, innovation, and strategic alignment of the ATP, which prepares students for admission to the bar.
Role Overview
The Assistant Director will:

Develop strategies, policies, and operational frameworks that promote excellence in the ATP.

Plan and manage the academic calendar, ensuring timely delivery of classes, exams, and assessments.

Work with senior management to market KSL’s training programmes and strengthen its academic reputation.

Lead departmental budgeting and financial oversight.
-
Maintain academic quality assurance and review curricula to address evolving legal market demands.

Supervise and mentor staff, conduct performance appraisals, and foster professional growth.

Oversee student discipline, examination moderation, and oral assessments.

Prepare and present departmental reports to management.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates should possess:

LL.B and LL.M degrees from accredited universities.

Postgraduate Diploma in Law from KSL.

Advocate of the High Court of Kenya status with a current practicing certificate.

At least 10 years of post-admission experience, with 5 in a management capacity.

Membership in Law Society of Kenya (good standing).

Leadership, research, and training experience in legal education.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills.

Completion of a certified management course (minimum 4 weeks).

Compliance with Chapter Six integrity requirements.
