Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) has announced an opening for a Regional Finance and Grants Specialist based in Nairobi. This role is designed for experienced finance professionals passionate about accountability, donor compliance, and sustainable development programming.
Position Summary
The Regional Finance and Grants Specialist will provide financial leadership and grants oversight across HFHI projects, ensuring strong compliance with donor rules, accurate financial reporting, and effective partner support.
Core Responsibilities

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure tracking across donor-funded programs

Ensure compliance with GAAP, HFHI policies, and donor contractual requirements

Review and manage donor agreements, amendments, and subawards

Support audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented

Provide grants compliance support during proposal development

Train and mentor partners and internal teams on grants management standards

Conduct financial analysis to inform strategic decision-making

Act as the primary finance liaison with donors, auditors, and partners
Ideal Candidate Profile

Strong background in NGO finance and grants management

Proven experience handling complex donor-funded portfolios

Ability to influence strategic decisions through financial insights

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

8+ years of progressive experience in finance or grants management

Experience with Workday or similar ERP systems

Hands-on experience managing UN-Habitat funded grants

Knowledge of Adaptation Fund compliance and reporting frameworks
