The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) has announced a vacancy for an Africa Coordinator – Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU) to be based in Nairobi. This role is suited for professionals passionate about food systems transformation, land use sustainability, and coalition-based development work.
Position Overview
The Africa Coordinator will work within the FOLU Global Secretariat, providing coordination and strategic support to country platforms across Africa. The role focuses on strengthening delivery, improving coordination, and supporting fundraising and expansion efforts.
Core Duties

Provide operational and strategic support to FOLU country platforms in Africa

Act as a key coordination point between country teams and the Global Secretariat

Support financial planning, forecasting, and reporting in collaboration with the Funds Management Team

Assist country platforms in developing funding proposals and engaging donors

Ensure effective information flow between global and country teams

Support coalition-wide fundraising initiatives and donor discussions

Work with the Country Action Team to support the expansion of FOLU platforms across the continent
Ideal Candidate Profile

Proven experience in stakeholder coordination within multi-sector coalitions

Strong proposal writing and resource mobilization skills

Knowledge of food systems, land use, and sustainable development

Excellent project management and organizational abilities

Ability to manage multiple projects across different countries

Academic Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Food Systems, Economics, International Development, or a related discipline
