Leadership Opportunity: APDK Announces CEO Vacancy to Drive Disability Empowerment in Kenya

The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK) has announced a major leadership opportunity for professionals passionate about driving social change. The organization is recruiting a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will take on the responsibility of shaping APDK’s national footprint and enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities across Kenya.

This high-impact position is based at APDK’s National Office in Nairobi and reports to the Board of Directors. As the head of the organization, the CEO will set the strategic direction, foster organizational growth, and ensure all programs and services align with APDK’s mission. The role requires someone who can think strategically while staying deeply connected to community needs and emerging disability inclusion trends.

Operationally, the CEO will supervise departmental heads and oversee administration, finance, human resources, program development, and facility management. This makes strong managerial experience essential. The leader must also ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, maintain financial accountability, and uphold high ethical standards in all operations.

One of the most important aspects of the role is resource mobilization. APDK is looking for someone who can champion fundraising efforts, build long-term relationships with donors, lead grant acquisition processes, and establish partnerships with government agencies and private sector players. Public relations and advocacy are equally critical—the successful candidate will be the organization’s primary spokesperson and advocate for disability rights.

To qualify, applicants must hold a Master’s degree in business-related fields such as Strategic Management, Finance, Public Administration, or Business Management. Additionally, APDK prefers a candidate with 5–10 years of experience in senior leadership roles. A background working directly with persons with disabilities is highly valued. The ideal leader will be an excellent communicator, a confident public speaker, and someone who embodies integrity and compassion.

Qualified applicants are encouraged to submit their cover letter and CV—highlighting relevant experience and salary expectations—to apdkboard@apdk.org no later than 17th December 2025 at 4 PM. APDK strongly supports inclusion and encourages persons with disabilities to apply. The organization remains committed to equal employment opportunities.
